Fire Pit, Wood Shop & Easy Recipes

Friday night was the perfect night for a fire pit.  No bugs, not too hot and not too cold...so we took full advantage.  It was very relaxing!

We headed to Eagle Grove Saturday to see my father-in-laws wood shop.  Dave learned a few things and we had a nice visit with Roger & Nancy.

Roger pointed out this sign at his wood shop.  Dave had made this as a kid.  I thought it was cute that it was on display.

Made a simple dinner last night and also a little treat for myself.

Pigs in a blanket (or is it...?)
  • 1 package Pillsbury reduced fat crescent roll dough
  • 1 package Jennie O turkey franks
  • Trader Joe's Everything but the Bagel seasoning

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.  Wrap hot dogs with dough and sprinkle with seasoning.  Cook for 9-13 minutes until golden brown.

340 calories for 2 with ketchup

I even got a "YUM" from Zane.  I loved them too and I could not tell a difference in the dough being reduced fat or in the hot dogs.  Zane didn't know the difference either.  Dave hasn't tried them yet so we'll see what he thinks of left overs.

Mini Almost S'mores
  • 4 reduced fat Nilla wafers
  • Jif Whips PB & chocolate
  • 8 mini marshmallows
Spread Jif Whips on Nilla wafers and top each with 2 mini marshmallows.  Heat in microwave about 15 seconds.

185 calories for 4

These were so good, but I had to keep them away from Zane due to his peanut allergy.
