We got some very sad news last weekend. My cousin Lisa who is about 10 years older than me had been diagnosed last August with a tumor in her brain that was cancerous. She had surgery to remove it and has been doing chemo and radiation treatments. From what I understand she has a new tumor and I assume it is inoperable. Doctors have given her 4-5 months to live.
I have a very large family with tons of cousins on both sides of my family as well as step cousins. I am not extremely close with Lisa primarily because of our age difference and we don't live close to each other either. However, I have always thought she had such a fun personality and I always enjoy talking to her and seeing her at family gatherings (although I am bad at attending them).
I got very emotional hearing the news about her. It just isn't fair. My heart breaks for her and her family as I know how devastating this will be for her husband, kids, parents, sister Kim, etc.
Anyhow this is one of those times when it makes you hug your loved ones a little tighter.
I got another update from my mom the other night and Lisa has stopped all treatment and will be entering hospice care. So very sad!!!
